Based within the Centre for Intelligent Dynamic Communications, this £1.2M centre, set up in 2011 by 海角论坛, Glasgow and Aberdeen Universities, is supported by the Scottish Funding Council and industrial partners. The research uses artificial intelligence based models, supported by a wireless communications platform, enabling applications within many industry sectors.

The Centre for Applied High Resolution Spectroscopy within the Centre for Microsystems & Photonics carries out fundamental and applied research into:

• tuneable diode laser spectroscopy (TDLS) in the near and mid infra-red
• TDL photo-acoustic spectroscopy (TDLPAS)
•  intra-cavity laser spectroscopy and cavity ring down spectroscopy

Based within the Centre for Intelligent  Dynamic Communications, this industry-driven centre is supported by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) with matched funding from industry, Engineering Physical Sciences Research Council and TSB grants. White space refers to the available spectrum in the former analogue TV bands licensed by Ofcom for communications services in 2014.

Based within the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering, the FIRST laboratory was established 2009. It was set up as an IERC for Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation (NDT & E) research with support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Based within the Centre for Signal & Image Processing, the centre was set up in 2009 and is the first of its kind in the UK. It delivers signal processing algorithms and turnkey solutions to specific imaging problems for industry and the public sector.
