Personal statement
Dr Yashar Javadi is a 海角论坛 Chancellor鈥檚 Fellow (Lecturer as part 鈥巓f 海角论坛 Global Talent Programme) at the University of 海角论坛. His 鈥巑ultidisciplinary works have been reflected in his appointment which is a joint 鈥巃ppointment between two departments (EEE and DMEM). He is currently 鈥嶨uest Editor of "Welding and Additive Manufacturing for Industry 4.0", a 鈥巗pecial issue of "Journal of Manufacturing and Material Processing", and also in 鈥巘he Topic Board of that journal. He is also editor of Special Issue "Robotic Non-鈥嶥estructive Testing" in Sensors.鈥� In a career spanning over 16 years in the field of engineering (particular focus 鈥巓n welding, non-destructive evaluation, additive manufacturing and robotics), 鈥巋e has worked as a lecturer and postdoctoral 鈥巖esearch associate (at The 鈥嶶niversity of Manchester and the University of 海角论坛) in the academia 鈥巃nd also a manager of the welding/NDT department and welding engineer in 鈥巘he industry. He has published 鈥庘��>40 journal papers with >1000 citations in total, 鈥巌ncluding two 鈥巔apers with >100 鈥巆itations.鈥� Currently, he is a member of Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering (CUE) where his 鈥巖esearch focus is on the in-process inspection and residual stress measurement 鈥庘��(non-destructive methods) in the welding and Wire + Arc Additive 鈥嶮anufacturing (WAAM). Some part of his current research outputs is reflected 鈥巌n two WAAM/NDT papers published in Insight (2018) and Additive 鈥嶮anufacturing (2019) journals plus two Welding/NDT papers recently 鈥巔ublished (2020) in Materials & Design (in-process calibration) and Journal of 鈥嶮anufacturing Processes (residual stress).鈥� 鈥�* Open PhD positions (please email me for details):鈥� 鈥�1) In-process calibration of a robotic NDE system used for high-temperature in-鈥巔rocess inspection 鈥�2) In-process Material Evaluation of Welding and Additive Manufacturing 鈥�3) Non-destructive Evaluation of Residual Stress

- This collaborative study between ANSTO, University of Palermo, University of 海角论坛, and AFRC investigates residual stresses in aluminum components produced via WAAM and AFSD (including MELD). Using neutron diffraction and ultrasonic techniques, the project aims to characterize and compare stress profiles across processes. The findings will inform process optimization and contribute to a doctoral thesis on in-situ stress measurement in metal additive manufacturing.

- The aim of this project is the development of a round-robin residual stress measurement to investigate the residual stress in 鈥巘itanium (Ti鈥�6Al鈥�4V) Wire + Arc Additive Manufacture (WAAM) 鈥巆omponents. Cranfield will contribute with the manufacturing and finite element modelling of the WAAM samples. 鈥嶢NSTO is supporting the project with residual stress measurement using Neutron Diffraction (ND) method鈥�.
