Academically the MEd helped me to develop greater independence, confidence and intellectual curiosity. It encouraged me to recognise that my perspective as an autistic woman could be an asset to research while also reinforcing the importance of reflexivity and methodological rigour.

Applying and enrolling on this programme is one of the best things I did for myself and my career.  I discovered a real interest in educational research and policy and what I learned on the programme informs my daily life, inside and outside of work.  I think it’s rare to find a course that fits your interests so well and I feel very lucky to have found that in the MSc Education Studies.

It’s the most rewarding learning experience I’ve ever had. It’s intense, but the personal growth is incredible and completely unexpected. I’ve made lifelong friends with peers and mentors, which has been an added bonus. I’d also encourage anyone from a fashion or textiles background not to be put off if they don’t have food experience. The learning curve is steep, but the payoff is absolutely worth it.

My supervisor’s feedback was incredibly detailed, encouraging and constructive, and she genuinely invested in helping me grow rather than simply grading my work. With her guidance and by taking her feedback on board, I gradually built confidence in my academic writing and was honoured to graduate top of my MSc cohort.

Placements were definitely the highlight of the course for me. They were where everything I’d been learning at university really started to come together. No amount of lectures can quite prepare you for standing in front of a class for the first time, but each placement pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me grow in confidence as a teacher.

Be prepared to work hard and be pushed but the pace and content is all for the benefit of standing strong entering probation year. Everything on the course links to aid one another, whether that connection be making the transition from third to fourth year smoother.

As an international student, one of the most significant developments for me was learning how to express myself academically in a language other than my mother tongue. The programme not only improved my academic English but also taught me to position my arguments within broader academic discussions and to use literature critically and analytically to support them confidently.

Receiving the Chevening Scholarship had a transformative impact on my academic and personal journey. Beyond financial support, Chevening gave me the opportunity to become part of a diverse international network of future leaders, professionals, and change-makers from around the world.

This program gave me the kind of intellectual freedom I had been looking for. After years of teaching, I finally had the chance to look at education through different lenses. I wasn't just learning how to teach anymore; I was learning how to think for myself.

I was drawn to this degree because it offered a clear route into teaching while maintaining strong links to both theory and classroom practice. I wanted a programme that would prepare me for the realities of teaching, not just the academic side of education.

As a Physical Education student, the facilities at 海角论坛 were absolutely first class. We had access to genuinely world class equipment and areas to work in, which meant that we had immediate opportunities to put our learning into practice.

The pacing of placement is great because your first two weeks are observation only and then you build your teaching time up with a gradual mix of solo teaching and team teaching. This really helps you ease into placement and allows you time to learn about the school and the pupils from experienced professionals.

The lecturers and tutors are fantastic, the facilities are brilliant, and I am so glad I selected this university to undertake my teacher training. It is a busy year, but there is lots of support to get you through. Teaching is the most rewarding job, and in my opinion, the best job on the planet.

Since qualifying, I have expanded my role beyond the classroom, holding positions as Principal Teacher of Pupil Support (Pastoral) and PT for 'The Promise.' My background as a Psychology teacher has been invaluable in these roles; having a deep understanding of trauma and high emotional intelligence allows me to support our most vulnerable young people effectively.

My experience on placement was overwhelmingly positive. I was well-supported by my mentors and faculty members across both placements and thoroughly enjoyed the classes I was given to teach. I feel I adapted to the workload aspect of it fairly quickly and was producing lessons I felt genuinely proud of.

Placement was one of the most transformative parts of my training. I taught French and Spanish across a range of year groups and became deeply involved in the life of the schools I worked in - from attending parents' evenings to supporting senior pupils with assessments. I developed my skills in lesson planning, active learning, differentiation, and behaviour management, and I really enjoyed building positive relationships with learners.

The school placement is well-organised by the university to give us varied and enriching experiences. I was incredibly lucky to have two wonderful placements in supportive schools where I could really develop my teaching practice.

The staff at my placement schools were incredibly encouraging, offering guidance and feedback that helped me to develop my teaching practice. It was quite nerve-wracking at first, especially when learning how to lesson plan effectively and managing the classroom environment, but over time I started to feel much more confident.
