Meet our postgraduate studentsEconomics
Shreya Mishra, MSc Economics & Finance
'One notable aspect of this course was a module named Professional Development for Economists. This is unique, as I did not find it in other universities. This module involves a great range of guest speakers who are working as economists in business, consultancy and policy roles, and develops core transferable skills.'
Shraddha Nair, MSc Economics & Policy of Energy & Climate Change
'As an engineering undergraduate, I was worried that I would have a tough time grasping the concept of economic terminologies, but the professors had an amazing way of explaining economic concepts in such a way that any person without an economics background would find it easy to navigate through the modules.'
Claire Mack, MSc Applied Economics
'I wanted a course that would give me breadth and depth and the structure of the modules within the course delivered both. It was challenging to do part-time but the relevance of the material meant that I could use a lot of my background knowledge and interest in current affairs to help with my studies.'
Emem Apkan, MSc Economics & Finance
'The instructors at 海角论坛 will provide you with skills that are appreciated by businesses all around the world so that you may compete successfully in the international employment market. My studies in economics and finance have equipped me with a wide variety of skills that are complementary to those that I already possessed thanks to the first degree I earned.'
Andrew Haxton, MSc Economics & Policy of Energy & Climate Change
'The focus on presenting I have found very useful to apply in my workplace. Moreover, the focus on environmental issues beyond looking at the basic economics was very useful. The Energy Economics class looks at wider economics, allowing you to grasp the subject as a whole and not just a niche section.'
Michelle Brown, MSc Applied Economics
'One of the things I like most about the course is that I'm not just learning economics; I'm developing skills that I will hopefully one day use in my career. The course covers a wide range of subjects and you can also choose elective classes from outside the Department of Economics. This means there's a large range of content.'
Slawek Dzido, MSc Economics & Finance
'The course constitutes a perfectly blended balance between the core content of both economics and finance. It鈥檚 an amazing opportunity particularly for those without prior direct exposure to academic economics or finance. Similarly, it will benefit those who would like to gain a new perspective while maintaining or developing the in-depth knowledge in the prior field.'
Leila Roberts, MSc Applied Economics
'The programme really gave me a strong foundation, not only in the data skills economists need but also the big questions facing economies today. Lecturers made connections between current events and our syllabus, which I found very helpful.'
Jamie McLaughlin, MSc Applied Economics
'I really enjoyed the applied classes, such as Economic Appraisal and Modelling or Energy/Health Economics. Coming from a statistics and data background, it鈥檚 always refreshing to apply those skills to real life settings, and it really brought the 鈥榓pplied鈥 element of the Applied Economics course to life.'
Abbie McGowan, MSc Applied Economics (online)
'The online nature of the course is great for balancing the course with work commitments. It requires a lot of dedication to commit the time outwith work but the learning that comes with it is worth it. It is also good to engage with the forum posts to stay connected to those on the course and the lecturers and to create a chat with those on the course to share learning.'
